Maria has been the winner of umpteen awards in her career, both officially and also by the common people in the magazines various times.

Her major awards started off from the year 2003 when she was honored with the award at the Women's Tennis Association which is symbolically called as WTA. The award was of the Best Newcomer of the Year.

Maria then went on receiving series of awards in the year 2004 which even elevated her position in her professional career and marked her name as one of the significant tennis players of this century. That year, she had in her winning books three awards all of them from the Women's Tennis Association. The first award even increased her popularity amongst the women players when she got the award of the Player of the Year. This award was followed by the major award like the Most Improved Player of the Year, which even attracted more attention to her profession from the several interested public. She was also acknowledged by her playing service held the award again at the Women's Tennis Association for the Player Service. It was yet praise to her playing style.

The year 2005 was the most distinguishing for Maria not only because of her astonishing victories but also because she was honored with some of the major awards. She received the award for the Best Female Tennis Player by the ESPY, which was undoubtedly a breakthrough success for her career. It was also the year in which her national country praised her for the drastic achievements she had had over the years. The Russian Tennis Federation named Maria the Best Female Player of the country. Also at the Prix de Citron Roland Garros Maria was given the award of the Master of Sports of the country of Russia.

Although she was not honored in major awards in the year 2006, again her national country Russia held her to the esteemed position. She again received the award from Russia's Tennis Federation, naming her as the Best Female Player of the country.

The year 2007 has also brought about major achievements in Maria's tennis career. She has had the opportunity of playing some of the major games of her life and has also been in the winning books of the historical awards related to the tennis sports. The ESPY recently awarded Maria the award for the Best Female Tennis Player. A major breakthrough in her career was recently seen after she won the title of the Best International Female Athlete by the ESPY. It was an honor by itself.
